Out of Stock! - Character customisation

My favorite part of working on Out of Stock! was the customisation system. I worked on the player characters during the proof of concept phase and was able to improve it in 2 month during summer.
I created the 100+ meshes of accessories, outfits and bodies as well as their textures and rig.

Since the customisation menu uses hair and skin colors separately, I tried to associate the hair color controller with patterns or details on animals and the skin color is the main color of the animal.

I made non human characters linked to the supermarket theme. With the same concept, hair color controls the details' colors.

For the body, we wanted to make different accessories that remind us of shop keepers and also some outfits linked to the different biomes of the game.

One of the main goals of reworking the character customisation system was to make hats fit every character. In the first version some types of hair did not fit so I tried to find a way to make it work!

Using the shader that Lucky Coquant created makes recoloring very easy ! We were able to make different color palets for accessibility purpose but also to have fun colors for the players.
